    • The present invention relates to a method for preparing lactide from alkyl lactate, comprising: a step of polymerizing alkyl lactate under a lead (Pb)-based catalyst so as to prepare lactic acid oligomers; and a step of depolymerizing said lactic acid oligomers to obtain lactide. The method of the present invention may use alkyl lactate, prepared by an esterification reaction between a fermented lactic acid solution and alcohol, directly without a separate dehydrating process such as moisture adsorption or pervaporation using zeolite, thus simplifying processes. In addition, the method of the present invention eliminates the necessity of additional hydrolysis for preparing lactic acid after the preparation of alkyl lactate, which might otherwise be required to prepare lactide. Further, the method of the present invention has the advantage of preparing lactide at a lower temperature than that of existing methods in which lactide is prepared after lactic acid is obtained by hydrolysis.
