By judging that the detection of the temperature is not normal when the temperature detected by the sensor S2 is equal to or under the set temperature, the copying action is continued until the temperature is lowered to a 2nd slowdown temperature which is much lower, and a mode is not switched to a copying mode in which the copying speed is caused to slow down until the temperature gets equal to or under the 2nd slowdown temperature.

In the case that the point of time when the set value is attained is the time that a specified time does not elapse after a main switch is turned on or in the case that a temperature sensor S2 separately provided does not attain the specified temperature, the copying is continued until attaining the specified number of copied sheets or for the specified time by judging that the detection of the sensor S1 is not in a normal state and then the above control is performed.
