    • A constellation detection system to detect unknown constellations. The constellation detection system includes a receiver, a joint detection engine coupled to the receiver, and a constellation detection engine coupled to the joint detection engine. The receiver receives a signal at a user equipment. The received signal comprises an intended signal and an interference signal. The joint detection engine generates joint detection outputs based on a linear joint detection algorithm applied to the received signal. The constellation detection engine receives the joint detection outputs from the joint detection engine and detects an unknown constellation corresponding to the interference signal. The detected constellation is then fed back to the joint detection engine for enabling a further non-linear joint detection.

The received signal includes an intended signal and a plurality of interference signals. The network communication system also includes a channel estimation module to generate a final channel impulse response from the received signal in conjunction with an interference cancellation (IC) process. The channel estimation module includes a raw channel impulse response estimator to estimate a raw channel impulse response of the received signal. The channel estimation module also includes an IC channel estimator to generate a refined channel impulse response from the estimated raw channel impulse response according to the IC process.

    • A receiver for detecting active code channels in a received signal. The receiver includes an active code candidate (ACC) engine, an active code detection (ACD) comparator, and an ACD apparatus. The ACC engine receives a signal from a transmitter and determines a number of candidate active code channels contained in the received signal. The received signal includes a set of candidate active code channels. The ACD comparator compares the number of candidate active code channels to a predetermined size of a spreading factor and determines whether the number of candidates in the candidate active code channel set is less than or equal to the predetermined size of the spreading factor. The ACD apparatus selects an ACD scheme from a plurality of ACD schemes and detects active code channels of the received signal based on the selected ACD scheme.
