    • The present invention describes a method and network nodes for performing a fault tolerant communication of a message to a destination network node, wherein the destination network node can be reached over a number of communication paths. Initially a primary communication path and at least one secondary communication path is selected, through which said destination network node can be reached. The message is then transmitted to the destination network node via the network nodes in the primary communication path, and during the transmitting the message is stored in at least one network node in either the primary communication path or the at least one secondary communication path. The secondary communication path is then used to reach the destination network node, if the message does not reach the destination over said primary communication path, using a copy of the message stored in this secondary communication path, or the closest-by node in the primary communication path. The method is applied iteratively, in that a selected secondary communication path then becomes the new primary communication path, and if the message does not reach the destination over this new primary communication path, a new secondary communication path is used.
