    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: when eyes of a user move away from a predetermined position along with movement of his or her head, a stereoscopic image viewed by the user is distorted. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an autostereoscopic display device, comprising an imaging layer 9 and a lens layer 10. The lens layer 10 serves to project different content from the imaging layer 9 to the left and right eyes, respectively, of a user. The lens layer 10 comprises lens cells 12, enclosing two fluids 13, 14 with different refractive indices. The shape of the interface between the fluids may be changed using electrowetting, by means of two individually controllable electrodes 21, 22 at the sides of each lens cell 12. The display device further comprises a user head tracking device and means for controlling the lens cell electrodes depending on a detected user head position.     • A switchable optical element has an optical axis. The element includes a chamber, a wave front modifier having a face defining an interior surface of the chamber (the face extending transverse the optical axis), a first fluid and a second fluid. The fluids are immiscible and in contact over an interface. The optical element is switchable between a first discrete state in which the first fluid substantially covers the face of the wave front modifier, and a second discrete state in which the second fluid substantially covers the face of the wave front modifier, wherein the chamber encloses both fluids in both discrete states, and the interlace extends transverse the optical axis in the first discrete state.

    • A variable focus lens of the type including a first fluid (A) and a second fluid (B), the fluids being immiscible and having different indices of refraction wherein the lens function of the variable focus lens can be selectively controlled. The refractive indices of the two respective fluids (A) and (B) are different, and it is highly advantageous if the difference between these refractive indices is relatively high, in order to obtain a good zoom factor. Many oils with a high refractive index (approximately above 1.7) are not colourless, but instead tend to be yellow. However, this causes colour changes in the image of an object compared with the object itself. This problem is solved by correcting or compensating for the resultant change of colour of an image of an object, compared with the object itself, caused by the use of a non-colourless fluid as the first and/or second fluid in a variable focus lens of the above-mentioned type.
