    • Method and system for installing the guide rails (1, 2), such as the car guide rails and/ or counterweight guide rails, in an elevator shaft (3). These phases are repeated until the entire guide rail is assembled. The system comprises an alignment appliance (12), which can be supported against a guide rail section and fixed to it by means of a permanent magnet (20). In addition the alignment appliance contains an aligning element (13), at which the laser beam produced by the direction laser can be directed.
