    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the workability and to prevent the penetrating phenomenon of molten metal by arranging a slidable closed member at a gap between the inner surface of a mold and the surroundings of a molten metal pouring nozzle and also, a gas passage in the wall of the pouring nozzle and opening a gas injecting hole into the gap. SOLUTION: The slidable closed member 20 is arranged at the gap between the square inner surface of the mold and the surroundings of the molten metal pouring nozzle 3 and also, the gas passage 16 is arranged in the longitudinal direction in the wall of the pouring nozzle 3 and the gas injecting hole 14 is opened into the gap. Molten metal static pressure Ph detected with a molten metal surface level sensor 19 and gas pressure Pb in the gap 15 detected with a gas pressure sensor 18 are comparison-operated with a computing element 21. The pressure of the gas G is controlled so that the Ph is almost equalized to the Pb with a pressure control unit 22. By this constitution, the trouble, such as the penetration of molten metal or the entrapment of gas caused by the excess or the shortage of loaded pressure can be prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuous casting method, by which the ununiformity of temperature developed in a cast slab is prevented by restraining a gap developed between movable casting belts and the cast slab. SOLUTION: This belt type continuous casting method is executed by providing one pair of the endless movable casting belts 2 and 3 and short side molds 5 disposed between this one pair of the endless movable casting belts 2 and 3, and by cooling and solidifying molten metal 14 poured into a mold part 11 consisting of these movable casting belts 2 and 3 and the short side molds 5 to produce a metallic thin plate 10. Surface smoothening rolls 9 and 9 are disposed to the rear surfaces of the movable casting belts 2 and 3 at the position where the deformable solidified shells having specified thickness are formed and also, the surface smoothening roll 9 is pushed to the thickness direction of the cast metallic thin plate 10 to execute the casting.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent penetration of molten metal by forming a pair of side gates of a self sliding material splitting, the side gates to right and left ones at the casting line, providing a pressing means to independently press aside a bottom part of the split side gates and a roll to reduce a gap between the side gates and the roll. SOLUTION: A continuous casting equipment directly manufactures a metallic sheet by passing a molten metal in a gap between rolls. Split side gates are split into two or more parts in a direction orthogonal to the casting direction, and each part is independently and movably mounted in the axial direction of the rolls. A self sliding material is preferably graphite. After bottom part of the side gates 10 is machined to the same curvature as that of a circumferential surface of rolls 1a, 1b, and split in right and left parts relative to the casting line, and further split into two. Split side gates 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d are mounted on a side gate support body 7, and a roll circumferential surface is independently pressed by springs 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d and holding plates 9a, 9b, 9c and 9d. The side gates are prevented from being broken, and the wear is reduced.
