    • PURPOSE:To reduce gas bubble involving inclusion, etc., into descending system by acting thrust force in drawing direction with an electromagnetic stirring device arranged at inside wide face or outside wide face in a mold for slab in the range except the prescribed length toward center from narrow face in the mold. CONSTITUTION:The electromagnetic stirring device 2 generating the thrust in the drawing direction of slab S arranged at the inside wide face of bending arc of the mold M for slab in a bending type continuous casting machine or in addition to the electromagnetic stirring device 2, further, electromagnetic stirring device 2' generating the thrust in the drawing direction of slab S arranged at the outside wide face 1' of the bending arc, are used. At the same time, the thrust in the drawing direction given to the molten steel 5 with these electromagnetic devices 2, 2', is practically acted in the range except the prescribed length L toward the center from side ends 4 at right and left sides of the cast wide face 3. In this result, the molten steel stream 6 is induced in the molten steel 5 and discharging flow velocity of the molten steel stream 9 discharged toward the narrow face direction from the discharging hole 8 in a submerged nozzle 7, is reduced and entering depth of the molten steel stream 10 entered into the slab S is restrained to prevent invasion of the bubble into inner part of the slab.

    • PURPOSE:To detect a joint part at good accuracy by taking average of surface temp. in a cast slab before reaching to the joint part of the cast slab, making the valve subtracting the prescribed temp. from this average surface temp. the set surface temp. and detecting the part at the temp. less than this set surface temp. as the joint part of the cast slab. CONSTITUTION:A detecting instrument 9 is constituted of a non-contacting type thermometer 11 set on the upper part of the cast slab 6 at upstream side of a cutter 7 and a computer 12 outputting cutting signal to the cutter 7 after calculating the cutting position at front and rear parts of the joint part 10 of the cast slab based on the inputted signal from this thermometer. At the time of forming the joint part 10 in a mold 5 by exchanging a tundish 3, the computer 12 starts to execute the temp. measurement of the cast slab. Into the computer 12, the measured temp. is inputted, for example, at interval of two sec and these inputted temps. are averaged, for example, at interval of five min and subtracts the prescribed temp. to make the set temp. This set temp. is corrected at every five min and the cuttings are surely executed at the preset cutting positions of front and rear parts to the joint part 10 of the cast slab. Instead of the surface temp. by measuring surface light quantity, the joint part can be detected, too.

By this method, the concns. of Mn, P and S in the molten steel at the blow-end is assumed at high accuracy for a short time and the ratio of rapid steel tapping is improved.
