    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling a steel strip which can provide a uniform shape throughout the whole length of the steel strip under simple control without executing complicated control.
      SOLUTION: In the cooling method, the hot-rolled steel strip 3 is cooled from its front end to its rear end in order by passing the steel strip 3 through a first stage cooling section 1 which uses a top-and-bottom face slit jet cooling system, and then through a second stage cooling section 2 which uses a top-and-bottom face cooling system other than the slit jet cooling system. When the steel strip 3 is in the course of passing through the first stage cooling section 1, the top and bottom water volume ratio of the top-and-bottom face slit jet cooling system is changed from the preset initial value to the other preset value.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent defect in the shape of a steel sheet in a connecting pass by comparing the variation in sheet crown ratio of a preceding rolled stock in the connecting pass with the upper and lower values of defective shape suppressing region and, when the variation is deviated, by correcting the sheet crown ratio on the outlet side in the final pass of the next rolled stock in accor dance with the amount of deviation. CONSTITUTION:The pass schedule A is set so that the variation in sheet crown ratio (the difference between the sheet crown ratio on the outlet side and the sheet crown ratio on the inlet side) in a shape adjusting pass satisfies the neutral value (i.e. 0%) in the defective shape suppressing region. Since the max. load of a rolling mill is forcedly imparted in the connecting pass, the variation in sheet crown ratio is increased to deviate from the defective shape suppressing region and defect in the shape of steel sheet is generated in this connecting pass. As shown in Fig. B, by correcting the sheet crown ratio on the outlet side of the final pass in the decreasing direction, the pass schedule is reset. In this way, the generation of defect in the shape of steel sheet in the next rolled stock in the stock in the connecting pass is eliminated.
