摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound usable for a water-resisting agent, etc., by reacting a higher fatty acid with a metallic hydroxide or chloride in the presence of small amount of a suitably selected surfactant in water, mechanically emulsifying the reaction product preliminarily, and dispersing the resultant emulsion under high pressure mechanically by force. CONSTITUTION:A higher fatty acid, e.g. caproic acid or stearic acid, is reacted with a hydroxide or chloride of a metal selected from Group II, preferably Mg, Ca, Ba or Zn, in water, and the reaction product is then preliminarily emulsified in the presence of a small amount of a surfactant, preferably a nonionic or anionic surfactant having a lipophilic group of a residue of nonylphenol or a higher alcohol, e.g. nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether, with the mechanical agitation, and subsequently dispersed by force mechanically under a high pressure to give the titled compound. USE:An additive in a coating solution for a coated paper or coated paperboard.

摘要： PURPOSE:To efficiently prepare the title aqueous dispersion, by reacting higher fatty acid and a compound of a Group II metal in the presence of a nonionic surfactant in water while further adding at least one kind of glycol to a wet dispersing or forcibly dispersing process. CONSTITUTION:Higher fatty acid such as stearic acid and a compound of a Group II metal such as slaked lime are reacted in the presence of a nonionic surfactant (e.g., polyoxyethylene ethyl ether, E.O. addition 14 mol) in water, (process A); while the obtained metal salt of higher fatty acid is subjected to mechanical wet dispersion, (process B); and, if necessary, an anionic surfactant (e.g., sodium sulfonate of polyoxyethylene nonyl phenol) is added, (process C). At either one of the points of time, that is, prior to the reaction in the process A, prior to or posterior to the dispersion in the process B or after the addition in the process C, at least one kind of glycol (e.g., ethylene glycol) is added and said metal salt is forcibly dispersed by a media type dispersing machine, a roll mill or a piston type high pressure homogenizer.
