摘要： A process for making a multifunctional superabsorbent polymer, and for making an absorbent structure containing superabsorbent polymer. The synthesis (i.e., polymerization) of the superabsorbent is completely integrated into the process for forming the multifunctional superabsorbent polymer and/or absorbent structure. More particularly, a monomer solution containing an oxidizing agent, a monomer solution containing a reducing agent, and at least one functional additive are combined to form the multifunctional superabsorbent polymer. A valve can be used to control the liquid drop sizes of the monomer solutions as well as of the oxidizing agent, reducing agent, and functional additive(s). The droplets can be collected on a substrate, resulting in the formation of an absorbent structure.

摘要： Disclosed herein are color change laminate materials suitable for a variety of uses. The color change laminate materials include at least two layers of extensible materials having visually distinct coloration, and indicate a stretched or extended state by exposing the previously covered coloration of a lower layer. The color change laminate materials may also indicate the amount of stretching or extension is applied to the laminate. When the laminate includes elastic materials capable of stretch and recovery, the color change laminate materials may further be reversible color change laminate materials that can display color change upon extension and then recover the extension and return to the original coloration. Such color change laminate materials and reversible color change laminate materials are highly useful for use in garments or other textile type applications, in or on personal care products, protective wear products, health care and medical care products, bandages and the like.

In particular, the absorbent articles include at least one waist elastic member that extends a substantial distance in the longitudinal direction. The waist elastic member, for instance, may be positioned in a front region of the article, in a back region of the article or in both the front and back regions. The waist elastic member comprises a breathable elastic film. In order for the film to be breathable, the film includes apertures. The apertures appear on the film according to a particular pattern and having a particular diameter so that the film retains desired stretch properties.

A functional element, for example a fluid composition, is stored in the space between the upper and lower material layers and becomes functional upon being exposed through the upper material layer with use of the article. The upper material layer includes a plurality of materially weakened positions along the surface thereof that are configured to part or separate upon stretching of the upper material layer to expose the functional element through the upper material layer.

The method includes providing at least two high operating frequency printheads (10) which are capable of processing phase-change inks, providing at least two phase-change inks (14), providing a substrate (16), activating the printheads such that at least two inks pass therethrough, and passing the substrate under the printheads at a rate of at least about 1000 feet per minute so as at least one process image is formed on the substrate. The present invention also includes a process for achieving high-speed crockfast process printing on a material with phase-change ink. The process includes providing at least an array of printheads capable of processing phase-change inks at frequencies of at least about 20 kHz, providing a material, providing a material transport system capable of transporting the material under the printheads, providing a plurality of phase-change inks, transporting material under the array printheads at a speed of at least 1000 ft/min, and ejecting ink from at least two of the printheads onto the material so as to form an image.

摘要： An absorbent article, such as a feminine care product, includes a liquid permeable liner layer, a generally liquid impermeable outer cover layer, and an absorbent layer disposed between the liner layer and outer cover layer. Spaced apart solidified deposits of a phase-change liquid are defined one either the liner layer top surface, bottom surface or both surfaces, and/or other layers along the other layers upper or lower surfaces. The deposits are defined such that areas of the liner layer top surface is exposed thereby being permeable to bodily exudates insulting the article between the deposits while acting as a barrier against liquid that may flow back to the liner layer or other treated layers from the absorbent layer or other layers contained in the absorbent article.
