摘要： An iron-base powder mixture for powder metallurgy which exhibits enhanced fluidity and moldability when heated to about 423 K and filled into a mold for molding is prepared by adding a surface modifier to an iron-base powder and an alloying powder, conducting primary mixing to prepare an iron-base powder mixture, adding at least one member selected from the group consisting of fatty acid amides, metallic soaps having higher melting points than the fatty acid amides, thermoplastic resins, thermoplastic elastomers, and inorganic and organic compounds having lamellar crystal structures to the iron-base powder mixture to conduct secondary mixing, agitating thereafter the mixture while heating to at least the melting point of the added amide to melt the amide, cooling the mixture while mixing the same to adhere the alloying powder and the lubricant having a higher melting point than the amide onto the surface of the iron powder by taking advantage of the binding force of the melt, and adding thereto, during cooling, at least one member selected from the group consisting of metallic soaps, thermoplastic resin and thermoplastic elastomer powders, and inorganic and organic compounds having lamellar crystal structures to conduct tertiary mixing.

摘要： Iron powder and iron-base powder mixture for powder metallurgy, which can provide sinters excellent in machinability and wear resistance. The iron powder contains 0.03-0.3 wt.% boron, at most 0.07 wt.% chromium, less than 0.3 wt.% manganese, and the balance consisting of iron and unavoidable impurities, and has an intensity ratio of boron to iron of at least 0.05 in the spectrum of the powder surface as determined by Auger electron spectroscopy. The powder serves to increase the amount of graphite remaining in sinters to thereby improve the machinability and wear resistance thereof. Another iron powder is prepared by adding sulfur, selenium, tellurium, molybdenum or the like to the above powder. These powders are mixed with MoO3 or WO3 powder to develop a so-called iron-base powder mixture. It is produced by water-atomizing the above powders while adjusting the oxygen content of molten steel to 100 ppm or below.

摘要： High-strength and high-toughness sintered alloy steel and composite alloy steel powder for use in production of the steel are disclosed. The steel contains as final product alloy components Ni, Mo and/or W and, if necessary, C with the content of Ni being 0.50 to 3.50 wt %, the content of Mo+1/2W being 0.65 to 3.50 wt % and, if necessary, the content of C being 0.3 to 0.8 wt %, and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, and has a density of at least 7.0 g/cm3 and a tensile strength of at least 130 kgf/mm2. The content of each of Ni and Mo+1/2W in the alloy steel powder of a particle size of 45 mum or less are 2.0 to 4.2 times as much as the average content of the whole powder. This composition gives high-strength and high-toughness sintered alloy steel by powder metallurgy using a comparatively low alloy formulation and heat-treated sintered steel satisfying requirements for automobile parts, etc.

摘要： An alloy steel powder for use in powder metallurgy is produced by alloying steel powder with 0.2 to 2.0 wt % of W and 0.8 to 3.0 wt % of Ni and, further, 0.1 to 1.0 wt % of Mo and 0.2 to 2.0 wt % of Cu. This powder shows well improved strength and hardness under proper compression, and enables distortion to be reduced upon thermal treatment after sintering. Therefore, a sinter produced from the powder scarcely suffers damages to its shape and dimensions after thermal treatment.
