    • PURPOSE:To greatly reduce the amt. of spatters by forming the flux cored wire for gas shielding in such a manner that the area of the metal components in the flux at the cross section thereof satisfies a specific range with respect to the area in the internal flux part. CONSTITUTION:The area M of the metallic components is specified to the range of equation I with respect to the area S of the flux part. Any of known wires and fluxes are applicable as the wire and flux to be used. While the metallic components to be incorporated into the flux are not particularly limited, Fe, Fe-Si, Fe-Mn, Mg, Al, etc., are preferably selectively used according to applications. The findings that an extremely stable arc is obtd. and that the amt. of spatters decreases drastically are obtd. if the projecting length of the unmolten flux is within a prescribed range. Elucidation is made that the amt. of the metallic components in the flux is merely necessitated to be limited for the above-mentioned purposes. The arc is effectively stabilized by using CO2 as a shielding gas in this way and the amt. of spatters is greatly reduced.
