摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a stainless hot rolled steel sheet having a black film on the surface and excellent in workability by subjecting a stainless slab to hot rough rolling, removing surface scales and thereafter executing finish rolling under specified temp. conditions. CONSTITUTION:At the time of producing a hot rolled steel sheet by heating stainless steel of every kind, e.g. to 1150 to 1300 deg.C and executing hot rough rolling and finish rolling, it is subjected to hot rough rolling to form into a sheet bar, and after that, surface scales formed at the time of the hot rough rolling are removed away by the spraying of pressurizing water of >=150kg/cm . Immediately after that, it is passed through a finish rolling mill to form into a hot rolled sheet having a final objective sheet thickness. At this time, by controlling the inlet side temp. of the hot rolled sheet in the finish rolling mill to 970 to 1000 deg.C and the outlet side temp. to 890 to 930 deg.C, a black film having 4 to 9mum thickness per side is formed on the surface of the stainless steel discharged from the finish rolling mill. Its workability is made good, furthermore, the surface of the stainless steel sheet is not flawed in the process of handling owing to the presence of the black film, and after the working, the black film can easily be removed away by direct grinding.

摘要： PURPOSE:To decrease the quantity at which a hot rolling mill trims the transverse end of a product and to improve the yield of the product by forming a channel-shaped recess having a prescribed sectional shape at the center of the side face of the slab. CONSTITUTION:The slab 8 for hot rolling is formed with the channel-shaped recess 10 having an isosceles trapezoidal cross sectional shape at the center of the side face. Said recess is so formed that the two parallel short sides of the isosceles trapezoidal shape are the base. The height (l) of the isosceles trapezoidal shape is made 1.5-9% the thickness of the slab 8 itself. The base angle theta of the isosceles trapezoidal shape is made 5-25 deg. and the long side length of the isosceles trapezoidal shape is made 60-95% the thickness of the slab 8 itself. The above-mentioned slab 8 is cracked T when hot rolled but to the small extent. The quantity of trimming is thus decreased and the yield is improved.

The oxygen partial pressure in the atmosphere near the surfaces of the slabs is reduced by the carbonization of the above- mentioned carbonizing product or carbohydrates, whereby the amt. of the scale produced on the slabs is reduced.
