    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the surface defect in the flange, by inserting the flat rolling pass for edging only the tip of the flange on the way of the rolling pass using the forming caliber, at the blooming method for obtaining the rough shaped steel billet possessing the web and the flange. CONSTITUTION:The rolling rolls 20, 22 are provided with the conventional forming calibers 20-1, 22-1 and the bull-head calibers 20-2, 22-2 possessing the flat part. The intermediate billet 24 is prepared by the repeated rolling works into almost desired shape with the flange whose blowholes are mostly unsqueezed; this intermediate billet 24 is subjected to the bull-head calibers 20-2, 22-2, in order to edging only the flange tip 24a with the flat part of the calibers by the draft percentage 5-15% per one pass. Next, the billet is subjected to the forming calibers 20-1, 20-2 to finish into the rough shaped steel billet 26 of the specified sectional shape. Hereby, the surface shape and the interior condition of the rough shaped steel billet are improved.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the surface defect production rate of the next process by applying intermediate hot scarfing to the beam blank material before kaliber rolling. CONSTITUTION:An ingot 1a is rolled by the bull heads 2 of rolling rolls and is formed to a rectangular cross sectional shape 1c which is transversely long. Next, the beam blank material 1c is sent to a hot scarf machine and its four circumferential surfaces are hot-scarfed through intermediate hot scarfing by two horizontal units 4 and perpendicular units 5. Then, it becomes the beam blank material 1d whose opposing surfaces are mutually parallel and have no large curved faces and dent portions. Next, it is again sent to the rolling rolls 2 and it is roll formed to the beam blank shape 1e by the kalibers 3 thereof. Further it becomes the beam blank 1f which is sent to the next process. The beam blank material 1d which is subjected to intermediate hot scarfing is of a rectangle, square or sectionsl shape close thereto, and may have some curved faces and dents.
