    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet having excellent mag netic properties stably in the rolling direction by specifying the induction heating temp. of a silicon steel slab in which the contents of C and Si are prescribed and the treating conditions from the completion of heating to the completion of rough rolling. SOLUTION: A silicon steel slab contg., by weight, 0.02 to 0.10% C and 2.0 to 5.5% Si is heated, is subjected to hot rolling and is subjected to hot rolled sheet annealing. Next, it is subjected to cold rolling for one time or >= two times including process annealing and is rolled to regulate its sheet thickness into a final one, and the surface of the steel sheet is applied with a separation agent for annealing, and final finish annealing is executed to produce a grain- oriented silicon steel sheet. At this time, the silicon steel slab is heated to >=1350 deg.C by induction heating, and the time(t) (sec) from the completion of the slab heating to the completion of the rough rolling at >=75% cumulative draft is regulated to the range satisfying the inequality [a: the thickness (mm) of the slab at the time of the induction heating and SRT: the temp. ( deg.C) of the slab at the time of extraction from an induction heating furnace].
