    • PURPOSE:To improve durability and spraying workability by adding specified range ratios of CaO and TiO2 in combination to a thermal spraying material essentially consisting of a specific ratio of SiO2. CONSTITUTION:This thermal spraying material for repairing furnace walls consist of 82-98 wt% SiO2, 1-16% CaO, and 0.5-10% TiO>=2. The expansion coefft. of the thermally sprayed layer increases with an increase in temp. and the expansion characteristic thereof differs from the expansion characteristic of silica bricks to easily cause exfoliation and damage if the ratio of the SiO2 is below 82%. On the other hand, the melt viscosity of the thermal spraying material increases considerably and the adhesive rate decreases; further, the sintering of the thermally sprayed layer sticking to the wall is deficient and the strength of the sprayed layer is low if the ratio exceeds 98%. The effect of decreasing the melting temp. and melt viscosity is not enough if the content of the CaO is below 1%. The expansion coefft. of the sprayed layer increases with an increase in temp. if the content exceeds 16%. The decrease of the melt viscosity is not enough and the strength of the sprayed layer is not improved if the content of the TiO2 is
