Successively, by driving a cylinder 27 for traverse motion, a carriage 25 is advanced and stopped at the position, where the tundish 11 bumps against the tip part of the stopper rod 32, and the stopper rod 32 is taken off from a bracket 35. Successively, the tundish 11 is advanced, and by adjusting oil pressure in a cylinder for clamping, the joint face pressure is adjusted each between the tundish 11, the monolithic refractory 14, the feed nozzle 15, the brake ring 16 and the mold 18.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting device for piping at the furnace bottom of a converter which can surely execute attachment/detachment of the piping in a short time and can simply execute alignment and adjustment in vertical position. SOLUTION: The piping 3 at the furnace bottom of the converter and piping 5 at the furnace body side are connected so as to be freely attached/detached. The inner surface at the end part 3' of the piping 3 at the furnace bottom is formed in a spherical surface, and a first ball part 10a abutting on this spherical surface is fixed in the end part of the piping 3 at the furnace bottom so as to be relatively displaced with the spherical surface. A piston 13 is protruded upward from the first ball part 10a. The inner surface side at the end part 5' of the piping 5 at the furnace body side is formed in a spherical surface, and a second ball part 10b abutting on this spherical surface is fixed in the end part of the piping 5 at the furnace body side so as to be relatively displaced with the spherical surface. A cylinder 14 is protruded downward from the second ball part 10b. The piston 13 is freely slid along the inner surface of the cylinder 14.

A part of inner circumferential wall diameter of the mold 1 near the downstream is enlarged, and graphite liner 2 having shallow recessed position 2a is arranged at the outer circumferential wall and connected so as not to exist step difference with the mold 1. Molten metal M flowed from a tundish E to the mold-set A is cooled with the mold 1 to develop solidified shell Ca, and gap G is developed at contact part of the inner circumferential wall in a liner 2. When the molten metal M reaches to the part arranging the gap part 2a, by this heat insulating action, the difference in the cooling intensity is not developed and deformation and biased cooling are not progressed. By this method, the deformation and cracking are restrained at the min. and the cast billet having good quality can be obtd.
