    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air supply/exhaust overlap changing device for a supercharged diesel engine capable of preventing backflow of exhaust to an air supply side without impairing starting performance with simple structure and preventing boosting insufficiency of exhaust.
      SOLUTION: Rollers 22 and 16 at one end part of each oscillating arms 21 and 15 for air supply/exhaust valves are in rollable contact with cam surfaces of fixed cams 23 and 18 for air supply valves fixed to a cam shaft 17. The air supply/exhaust valves are operated by constant valve timing via a rocker arm by elevating/lowering of push rods 24 and 14. By rotatably connecting other end part of each of the oscillating arms 15 and 21 to a crankshaft 31 for switching timing and rotating the crankshaft 31 by 180°, oscillating fulcrums of the oscillating arms 15 and 21 are changed. Normal valve timing for opening/ closing the opening/closing timing of the air supply/exhaust valves by normal timing and starting valve timing for expediting the opening/closing timing for exhaust valves 12A and 12B and delaying the opening/closing timing of the air supply valve are switched to change overlap of the air supply/exhaust valves.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein an increased exhaust flow velocity in a high load condition of an internal combustion engine causes noise by exhaust and causes an error in observation results in an underwater research vessel.
      SOLUTION: A supercharging system for an internal combustion engine comprises a mechanical blower B
      2 driven by the internal combustion engine E, an air cooler C
      1 for cooling air boosted in pressure by the mechanical blower B
      2 , a turbocharger blower B
      1 rotated by a turbocharger turbine T driven by exhaust gas generated by the internal combustion engine E, and an air cooler C
      2 for cooling air boosted in pressure by the turbocharger blower B
      1 . A new charge is compressed with the mechanical blower B
      2 as the first stage compressor and the turbocharger blower B
      1 as the second stage compressor. An exhaust pipe 8 of the internal combustion engine E is provided with a bypass line 9 for returning part of exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe 8 to a charge pipe 4 of the internal combustion engine E, so that an exhaust gas quantity emitted outboard is reduced to reduce noise.
