    • PURPOSE:To improve efficiency by providing a satuable reactor for reverse current prevention having the voltage-time product of large enough to prevent saturation while the pulse compression of a first stage is executed. CONSTITUTION:One end of the satuable reactor 12 for reverse current prevention is connected to a capacitor 3 for charging at its one end, and the other end is connected to the junction point of the capacitor 4 for compression and the satuable reactor 8. Since this satuable reactor 12 for reverse current prevention becomes high impedance in a non-saturated state for a period that the pulse compression of the first stage is executed, it prevents a pulse current from flowing in a reverse direction. Thus, a pulse current in the reverse direction is prevented from flowing after time when the pulse compression of the first stage is executed, and the pulse generation device of high efficiency can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce component parts and simplify the wiring of a main circuit, by realizing the forming of pulse voltage equal to or higher than line voltage, with a capacitor, an inversion means, and a saturable reactor. CONSTITUTION:To a first capacitor 4 connected to a DC power source 1, a thyratron 2 as an inversion means is connected in parallel with each other. To both ends of the first capacitor 4, a saturable reactor 6 and a second capacitor 8 are connected in series. When the first and second capacitors 4, 8 are charged with specified voltage by the DC power source 1, to allow the thyratron 2 to turn ON, then the voltage polarity of the first capacitor 4 is inverted, and at the time when the inversion comes to an end, the saturable reactor 6 is saturated to allow the electrical energy of the first capacitor 4 to shift to the second capacitor 8, and the second capacitor 8 is charged with voltage higher than specified voltage. To the second capacitor 8, a pair of main discharge electrodes 9 are connected in parallel with each other.
