Random access channel information is determined on each of a plurality of frames constituting a superframe, and a control message comprising the random access channel information is broadcasted. A method and apparatus of a mobile station (MS) perform UL random access in a wireless communication system. A control message comprising random access channel information is received. A frame for minimizing a collision during a contention-based random access is selected based on the random access channel information. For data to be transmitted using the selected frame, it is determined whether the information to be transmitted is an access class with equal or higher priority to a received access class comprised in the random access channel information. A contention-based random access bandwidth request is transmitted to the BS for the data to be transmitted.

A mobile station (MS) attempting to establish P2P communication receives a P2P amble signal transmitted on at least one adjacent P2P link, measures a signal strength for the P2P amble signal, reports the measurement results to a base station (BS), and performs the P2P communication using a P2P resource that is assigned by the BS according to the measurement results. The BS assigns a resource different from the resource assigned to a P2P link having a highest signal strength measured, as a resource for the P2P communication, thereby preventing possible interference caused by adjacent P2P links.

A relevant MBS channel scheduling information message is received from the base station using the extracted transmission information of the MBS channel scheduling information message. Transmission information of an MBS MAP message for a relevant CID is extracted from the MBS channel scheduling information message. Therefore, an MBS channel change of a terminal can be easily performed.

Data received from a lower node is checked for errors. The data is transmitted to an upper node, when the data has no errors. When two or more information, which include at least one of Acknowledgement (ACK) and Negative ACK (NACK) in response to a data reception are received from one or more lower nodes, the two or more information are transmitted to the upper node at the same time. Accordingly, the RS can transmit the control information for the ARQ provided from the lower nodes, to the upper node at the same time.

A first handover response message is transmitted to the mobile station. The first handover response message includes a list of at least one neighbor base station. A handover indication message including a value of a handover indication type field is received. The value is determined by the mobile station from among at least two values individually indicating at least one of a handover cancel and the handover rejection. The value representing the handover cancel indicates that the mobile station intends to cancel a handover procedure, and the value representing the handover rejection indicates that the mobile station intends to reject performing handover with any of the at least one neighbor base stations in the list.
