    • Provided is an apparatus for driving a light emitting element. The apparatus includes a power unit, a light emitting element array, a constant-current circuit unit, and a voltage limiting circuit unit. The power unit supplies driving power. The light emitting element array includes a plurality of light emitting elements connected in series between an anode terminal connected to the power unit and a cathode terminal. The constant-current circuit unit maintains a constant current flowing through the light emitting element array according to a first tuning voltage. The voltage limiting circuit unit is connected between the cathode terminal of the light emitting element array and the constant-current circuit unit, and divides a total voltage applied between the cathode terminal of the light emitting element array and a ground according to a second tuning voltage to limit a voltage applied to the constant-current circuit unit below a predetermined voltage.

    • In a driving circuit for an LCD backlight, a fundamental wave generator generates a triangle wave signal and a square wave signal in accordance with time constant of a time constant circuit including a time constant capacitor. A PWM comparator compares a difference signal between a feedback voltage and a preset reference voltage with the triangle wave signal to generate a PWM signal in response to the comparison result. A signal synchronizer sets a connection node between the time constant capacitor and the fundamental wave generator and an output terminal of the square wave signal in accordance with a power level of the LCD backlight. Also, a driving signal generator generates a driving signal in response to the square wave signal from the fundamental wave generator and the PWM signal from the PWM comparator. The driving circuit enables PWM controlling integrated circuits to be synchronized together.

    • An LCD backlight inverter includes a soft starter for generating a soft-start reference voltage gradually increasing as the driving power begins to be supplied. The LCD backlight inverter also includes a first error detector for receiving a first feedback voltage indicating the magnitude of driving current of the lamp and for comparing a smaller value out of a predetermined first reference voltage and the soft-start reference voltage with the first feedback voltage to generate a first error signal corresponding to the difference between the smaller value and the soft-start reference voltage. The LCD backlight inverter further includes a pulse width modulation comparator for comparing the first error signal and a triangle wave oscillation signal to output the pulse width modulation control signal with a predetermined duty ratio. The LCD backlight inverter prevents application of over-current and over-voltage to the LCD backlight to prolong the lifetime of the backlight.

    • There is provided relaxation oscillator. The relaxation oscillator includes: a ramp wave generator generating ramp waves by a complementary operation between a first capacitor module charged and discharged according to a first switching signal and a second capacitor module charged and discharged according to a second switching signal; a negative feedback circuit unit generating a compensation voltage for compensating errors with reference voltage by being fedback with the ramp waves; and a switching signal generator generating the first switching signal controlling the charging and discharging of the first capacitor module and the second switching signal controlling the charging and discharging of the second capacitor module from the compensation voltage and the ramp waves. As a result, the present invention can generate ramp waves having a stable frequency while preventing a frequency from being changed due to a delay or an offset of the comparator.
