    • A pickup apparatus capable of omitting an actuator cover and reducing the dimensions thereof, and a method of manufacturing the same. This apparatus is formed of an actuator unit in which a movable unit made by fixing printed board coils on both side surfaces of an objective lens-containing lens holder is supported movably on four wire-form elastic members fixed to an actuator base, and a suspension base which is provided with a pair of yokes to which a pair of magnets disposed in a mutually opposed state are fixed with a predetermined width of magnetic space left therebetween, and which has standing portions. A range of a movement in a focusing direction of the movable unit is restricted by inserting stopper members into insert holes of the standing portions.

    • In the lens driving apparatus of a disk player, a pair of magnets 20 for generating magnetic fields are fixed to a pair of yokes 21, respectively to generate a magnetic gap therebetween. The pair of yokes 21 are oppositely arranged on and fixed to a plate-like actuator base 10 by plural screws 12 through a fixing member 11. A movable portion 50 is movably hung by four supporting wires 32 (or plate screws) on a supporting base 31 that is fixed to the actuator base 10. The movable portion 51 is arranged within the above magnetic gap. In such a configuration, the apparatus for a disk player can shift a natural resonance frequency to a high frequency and can be operated at a high speed.

A pair of L-shaped yokes to which fixed are a V-shaped magnet and an inverted V-shaped magnet for producing a magnetic field are fixed with a plurality of screws on a plate-form actuator base, arranged opposite to each other and spaced apart by a predetermined magnetic gap. A movable portion, which is supported with four support wires of a support base fixed with a screw to the actuator base, is disposed in the magnetic gap defined by the V-shaped magnet and the inverted V-shaped magnet. Fixed to the movable portion are a V-shaped drive coil comprising focus and tracking drive coils provided on the side of a lens holder in the direction of jitter, and an inverted V-shaped drive coil or the V-shaped drive coil 80 that is rotated by 180 degrees.     • A processing unit for a substrate has a vertical thermal processing furnace 4 having a bottom and an opening provided at the bottom. The processing unit can effectively reduce the undesirable influence from the opening when the first lid is taken off from the opening and the boat is conveyed out, and can also reduce the wasted energy by preventing the fall of the temperature in the interior of the thermal processing furnace.
