    • The invention relates to a process for working up wastewaters which are obtained in the purification of crude aromatic nitro compounds after the nitration of aromatic compounds, comprising the following steps: (a) single-stage or multistage washing of the crude aromatic nitro compound to obtain at least one organic phase and at least one aqueous phase, and removal of the aqueous phase or of the aqueous phases, step (a) comprising the addition of a base other than ammonia, and then (b) optional removal of organic constituents from at least a portion of the aqueous phase or aqueous phases obtained in step (a) by stripping, preferably with steam, then (c) removal of organic compounds from at least a portion of the aqueous phase or aqueous phases resulting from step (a) or step (b) by thermal and/or oxidative degradation, then (d) distillative depletion of ammonia from at least a portion of the aqueous phase or aqueous phases resulting from step (c), and then (e) optional supply of at least a portion of the aqueous phase resulting from step (d) to a biological wastewater treatment.

    • A forearm lifter for assisting in the articulation of a mating forearm part of an arm prosthesis with respect to a mating upper arm part about at least one elbow axis is disclosed. The forearm lifter includes: (i) a spring element; (ii) a mechanism having an input and an output, with the spring element directly or indirectly applying a tensile force to the input of the mechanism; and (iii) a tension element having one end acted upon by the output of the mechanism, and having another end which can be fastened at a fixed point on said mating upper arm part. The fixed point and the elbow axis define a torque lever, such that the force that is transmitted through the mechanism from the spring element applies torque to the mating upper arm part in such a manner that the curve of the torque acting at the fixed point, plotted against the angle of articulation of said forearm part, is approximately parabolic. The torque has its minimum values in both the forearm extended position and at maximum forearm bending. The torque has its maximum value when said upper arm mating part and said forearm are at approximately 90.degree..

    • An electric storage battery arrangement includes a frame which is to be mounted in the prosthetic device, and a storage battery which is insertable into the frame. A snap-holding arrangement holds the storage battery in the frame and includes a lever pivotable in the frame between a releasing and a holding position, being biased toward the releasing position and having one arm that holds the storage battery in the frame. Electric contacts are mounted on the lever, such contacts being arranged in the electric circuit of the drive of the prosthetic device and being in an electric contact with the terminals of the storage battery when the latter is fully inserted in the frame. The lever has a pair of cylindrical projections received in a depression of the frame and held therein against displacement other than pivoting by an arresting member connected to the frame. The storage battery has a centering recess intermediate the terminals, and another recess at the end spaced from the terminals, and a centering projection of the lever, and another projection of the frame, are received therein when the battery is at least partly inserted into the frame. A pressing member is urged into contact with the centering projection when received in the centering recess.
