    • Transparent copolyamides are obtained by reacting a mixture (A) of isophoronediamine and isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid or a mixture of isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid with a mixture (B) of a diamine ##STR1## and terephthalic acid or a mixture of terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid or with a mixture (C) of a diamine ##STR2## and terephthalic acid or isophthalic acid or mixtures thereof, R', R" and R.sub.1 to R.sub.6 being as defined in the patent claim.The reaction can also be carried out with an excess of diamine and with addition of H.sub.3 PO.sub.2 or salts thereof or white phosphorus.The novel copolyamides are distinguished by good thermoplastic processability, low water absorption and good resistance to hydrolysis, and are useful for the production of transparent mouldings.

    • Novel 10-amino-deca-3,7-diene-nitriles of the formula ##STR1## are described, in which R.sub.1 is C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, R.sub.2 is H or C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, R.sub.3 is C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, cycloalkyl having 4-12 ring C atoms, C.sub.7-8 -aralkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl or, if R.sub.4 =H, --Ch.dbd.CH--alkyl or --C(alkyl).dbd.CH--alkyl each having 1-4 C atoms in the alkyl groups, and R.sub.4 =H, C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, cycloalkyl having 4-12 ring C atoms, C.sub.7-8 -aralkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 and/or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are C.sub.3-11 -alkylene. The compounds (I) can be reduced in a manner known per se to give the corresponding 1,11-diamino-undeca-3,7-dienes. The latter are valuable intermediates and are suitable especially for the preparation of transparent crosslinkable polyamides.

    • There are described transparent polyamides, and processes for producing them, which polyamides consist of recurring structural elements of the formula I ##STR1## or of recurring structural elements of the formula II ##STR2## [carbonyl groups in the structural elements (II) bound in the 1,3- and/or 1,4-position to the benzene nucleus, R.sub.1 =C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, R.sub.2 =H, C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, R.sub.3 =C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, C.sub.4-12 -cycloalkyl, C.sub.7-8 -aralkyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, R.sub.4 =H, C.sub.1-12 -alkyl, C.sub.4-12 -cycloalkyl, C.sub.7-8 -aralkyl, or unsubstituted or substituted aryl, or R.sub.3 /R.sub.4 together=C.sub.3-11 -alkylene, R.sub.5 /R.sub.6 independently of one another=hydrogen or methyl, and R.sub.7 /R.sub.8 together=C.sub.3-11 -alkylene]. The polyamides according to the invention are suitable for producing transparent moulded articles of the widest variety, and are distinguished in particular by low water absorption, high stability to hydrolysis, and/or good dimensional stability under the action of moisture or humidity.
