    • A track assembly for a track-type vehicle has a plurality of first and second distinct individual track shoes joined together to form an endless loop. The first shoes have a projecting grouser bar which has a first plurality of teeth and the second shoes have a projecting grouser bar which has a second plurality of teeth. The first and second shoes are arranged in an alternating pattern with the teeth of the first shoes staggered relative to the teeth of the seocnd shoes. Conventional grousered track shoes generally provide track-type vehicles with sufficient surface traction for most work tasks of the vehicle. However, in some special work applications, the conventional grouser track shoes is inadequate to provide the required penetration to achieve sufficient tractive force. For such special work applications, the subject toothed grouser track shoes penetrate the surface and provide the necessary traction to effectively perform the work function.

    • A method of operating a paving system includes establishing a plan for paving a work area which is based on a positional temperature model. The method further includes receiving temperature data for paving material and comparing the temperature data with data predicted by the positional temperature model. Operation of the paving system is adjusted where actual data differs from model predicted data. A paving system and control system are provided having an electronic control unit configured to compare electronic temperature data with a positional temperature model for paving material. The electronic control unit can control machines of the paving system based on comparing actual data with model predicted data, and can further update either or both of a plan for paving a work area and the positional temperature model itself based on differences between actual data and model predicted data. A complete temperature profile of a paving work area, including a comparison with the model may be recorded in computer readable memory for forensic and predictive analysis.

The method further includes selecting a location within a cut area for obtaining fill soil or a location within a fill area for depositing fill soil based on the signals. A system for supplying soil for an earthworks construction project includes at least one machine having a sensor configured to sense soil moisture, and a receiver configured to receive position data corresponding with a location of the soil, and a signaling device configured to output signals based on the position data and soil moisture data. A transfer machine is included in the system and configured to selectively transfer fill soil between the cut area and the fill area based on the signals.

    • Teeth for compactors are normally utilized to crush and/or grind refuse material and/or soil being worked and to effectively compact the refuse material and/or soil being worked. It is also advantageous to insure that the teeth being used provide traction of the compactor wheel on the materials being worked while not allowing the refuse material and/or soil to collect between the teeth of the compactor wheel. In the subject arrangement, the tooth provides a tip portion having an outer surface with at least six edges and a plurality of corresponding side surfaces extending therefrom at an obtuse angle with respect to the outer surface. The tooth defines a longitudinal plane therethrough that is parallel to the length of the tooth and perpendicular to the outer surface. Two of the side surfaces lie perpendicular to the longitudinal plane and form obtuse angles with the outer surface in the range of 115 degrees to 135 degrees. The angle of the two side surfaces with respect to the outer surface and the angle of the plurality of other sides with respect to the outer surface provides a tooth that effectively penetrates the refuse material and/or soil being worked, crushes and/or compacts the refuse material and/or soil being worked while providing sufficient traction for the compacting wheel thereon.
