    • A virtual shopper devices and methods are provided for presenting to a user an image display of the user wearing an item. The virtual shopper device has an image display, a sensor for sensing signals from a tracking memory associated with the item, a memory device containing personal profile information for the user including at least one dataset composed of user fit data and user image data and a user input device for at least activating a function to present an image of the user wearing the item. A controller is also provided and is adapted to retrieve item fit data and item image data for the item from a database, to generate a display image simulating the appearance of the item as worn by the user, said display image being generated based upon the item fit data, the item image data, the user fit data and the user image data and to cause the image display to present the generated image.

    • A digital image capture device and method for operating the same are provided. The digital image capture device has a digital image capture device comprising: a housing (20); a digital image capture system (22); a biometric reader (70) adapted to sense biometric data of a user; a wireless communication circuit (54) adapted to transmit wireless signals to a remote database and to receive authorization signals from the remote database; a processor (26) adapted to control and enable operation of the digital image capture system (22), the wireless communication circuit (54) and the biometric reader (70), wherein the processor (26): is adapted to cause biometric data to be read from a user, and wirelessly transmitted to a remote database so that the remote database can compare the sensed biometric data to stored biometric data and will transmit an authorization signal when the sensed biometric data corresponds to stored biometric data, said processor further being adapted to determine a set of authorized actions for a user of the digital image capture device based upon an authorization signal transmitted by the remote database; with said processor further being adapted to execute actions as requested by the user when the requested actions are within the set of authorized actions.

    • Scanner modules are provided for use with a docking station having a docking station interface adapted to receive an interface of an imaging device; the scanner module has an image-scanning unit adapted to form an image of a medium; a controller to controllably cause the image scanning unit to capture an image of the medium and to store the captured image as image data in a memory; and a scanner interface adapted so that it can be received by the docking station interface. The controller is connected to the scanner interface and adapted to send image data from the memory through the docking station interface in a manner that emulates the manner in which the imaging device sends image data through the docking station interface. Some embodiments of the scanner module can be manually or automatically moved to scan mediums.

    • Imaging systems and methods for calibrating imaging systems are provided. The imaging system has a body, a scene image capture system that captures images using a taking lens system that can be set to a plurality of different focus distances, and a rangefinder that is capable of determining a distance between the imaging system and at least one portion of a field of view of the taking lens system. The method comprises: automatically capturing a first calibration image of a first field of view through the taking lens system with the taking lens system set to a first focus distance setting; identifying a portion of the first calibration image having a predetermined degree of focus; using the rangefinder to determine a first calibration distance from the imaging device to the identified portion. A focus correlation is determined based upon the first calibration distance and the first focus distance setting.
