    • A receiver lock for a trailer box hitch designed to secure a ball mount in place and protect it from unauthorized removal. The receiver lock consists of a solid metallic cylindrical pin (20) with a head (28) on one end and round end (40) on the other end. The pin includes a body (22) with a notched recess (32) essentially adjacent to the head with a bore (38) running through the head and body communicating with the recess. A cam lobe (42) is located within the recess and has a shape that conforms to the body when in an unlocked position, and extends above the body when locked. A circular keyway lock (48) is placed in the bore in the head and held captive with a set screw (50). A hexagonal lock connecting rod (56) joins the cam lobe to the lock through the bore. The invention functions by using the principle that when the lock is in the unlocked position the cam lobe is flush with the outside surface of the pin and insertable in the existing holes through both the box hitch and ball mount, and when in a locked position the cam is extended above the pin interfacing with the inside wall of the ball mount, thereby denying removal of the receiver lock and correspondingly the ball mount from the hitch.

    • A flip-down ball-mount cover assembly (10) which functions in combination with a ball-mount (130) as is typically attached to a trailer and is inserted into a ball-mount receiver (120) that is attached to and extends from the rear of a vehicle. The assembly (10) consists of a detent hinge (50) having one end that is fastened to an assembly attachment collar (30) that attaches to the ball-mount receiver (120) and a second end that is attached to a receiver cover (12). When the vehicle is not towing a trailer the receiver cover (12) is hingedly pressed against the opening of the ball-mount receiver (120). When a ball-mount (130) is to be used, the receiver cover (12) is rotated downward from its closed position into an open position which remains open due to the detent action of the hinge (50). To enhance the utility and the aesthetics of the assembly (10) an indicia plate (108) can be fastened to the receiver cover (12) which allows the indicia to be viewed when the cover (12) is in the closed position.

The fourth automatic design also incorporates a photo sensor circuit (40) that causes the auxiliary lamps (26) to turn on only when the ambient lamp level falls to a preselected level such as when darkness appears.

    • A tailgate locking assembly (10) designed to be attached to a tailgate latching mechanism (92) that operates a truck tailgate (90). The mechanism (92) includes a pull-handle (96) which controls the position of a pair of lever arms (98) connected to a pair of respective latching rods (100). The rods are normally spring-biased in an outward direction which maintains the tailgate (90) in a latched configuration. When the pull-handle (96) is pulled back, the latching rods (100) move inward which unlatches and allows the tailgate (90) to be lowered. The tailgate locking assembly (10) includes a bracket (12) that attaches to the mechanism (92) and that incorporates a locking arm (56) that can be placed in a first position (44) or a second position (46) by means of a key lock (30). When the arm (56) is in the first position (44) it is located against one of the lever arms (98) preventing the pull-handle (96) from releasing the latching rods (100). The tailgate (90) cannot be lowered until the key lock (30) is placed in the second position (46) which releases the lever arms (98) allowing the pull-handle (96) to be pulled back to release the latching rods (100) and allow the tailgate (90) to be lowered.

The kit (10) is enclosed within a single enclosure (12) that encloses an electronic unit (14).
