    • Template-fixed β-hairpin loop mimetics comprising a template corresponding to one of the structures (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h) and a template-fixed chain of 4 to 20 α-amino acid residues which, if their α-C atom is asymmetric, have L-configuration can be manufactured by a novel process which is based on a mixed solid- and solution phase synthetic strategy. If desired, this process can be modified to give the enantiomers of these template-fixed β-hairpin loop mimetics. These enantiomers are novel compounds, and many of said template-fixed β-hairpin loop mimetics themselves are also novel compounds. The template-fixed β-hairpin loop mimetics and their enantiomers can mimic flat surfaces of proteins and thus be used to probe large surface protein-protein interactions. Accordingly they can serve as lead finding tools for protein targets where it is difficult to find small-molecular-weight lead compounds.

    • On the fly tuning of parameters used in an interface between a memory (e.g. high speed memory such as DRAM) and a processor requesting access to the memory. In an operational mode, a memory controller couples the processor to the memory. The memory controller can also inhibit the operational mode to initiate a training mode. In the training mode, the memory controller tunes one or more parameters (voltage references, timing skews, etc.) used in an upcoming operational mode. The access to the memory may be from an isochronous process running on a graphics processor. The memory controller determines whether the isochronous process may be inhibited before entering the training mode. If memory buffers for the isochronous process are such that the training mode will not impact the isochronous process, then the memory controller can enter the training mode to tune the interface parameters without negatively impacting the process.

    • A folding stowable trolling rig for removably mounting a plurality of fishing rods in desired, operable positions above the deck of a boat, such rig mounting atop a standard fishing seat pedestal of the type found on bass boats and requiring no tools or special hardware for installation. It is comprised of a plurality of longitudinally spaced rod holders pivotally mounted to a pair of folding support arms, one end of each being pivotally attached to either side of a central mounting base, the underside of which having a post that inserts into the seat mounting socket atop the fishing seat pedestal. Automatic alignment of each rod holder, both in folded and opened positions, is controlled by a pair of alignment bars pivotally mounted to the holders and to either side of the mounting base just above and parallel to the support arms. The rod holders and the support arms all fold together into compact alignment for transporting or stowing.

    • Disclosed is a new single handle post hole digger for excavating a constant diameter shaft in the ground for setting fence posts and the like. The single handle post hole digger comprises a stationary arcuate shovel blade pivotally connected to a movable arcuate shovel blade. The movable blade has an earth piercing position wherein the movable blade lies parallel to the stationary blade such that the extended arcs of the blades describe a cylinder. The movable blade also has an earth removing position wherein the lower edge of the movable blade is angled inwardly toward the stationary blade to define a scoop. An elongated gripping handle extends longitudinally from the blades. Blade control is accomplished with an actuator lever, pivotally mounted on the gripping handle, connected to the movable shovel blade by a control rod. Moving the lever in one direction positions the movable blade for earth piercing whereas moving the lever in the other direction positions the movable blade for earth removing.
