摘要： Fluid polymer polyol dispersions which impart improved fire resistance to polyurethane foam. The fluid polymer polyol dispersions are prepared by grafting one or more monomers onto a polyol backbone with the difference that the grafting takes place in the presence of a flame retardant. During the grafting process the flame retardant is incorporated into the fluid polymer polyol dispersion. When such fluid polymer polyol dispersions are used, the fire resistance of the final polyurethane foam is improved relative to cases where a conventional fluid polymer polyol dispersion and a flame retardant are added separately to the polyurethane foam formulation.

摘要： Modified polyols having the formula R.sub.m SiXx.sub.4-m wherein m=1 to 3, X is an alkoxy group and at least one R group is either HS--R.sup.1 -- or HS--(SiR.sup.2.sub.2 O).sub.n -- are described. The modified polyols, when mixed with base polyol, are used in the manufacture of graft polymer polyols having low viscosity and good filtrability. The graft polymer polyol can be used in the manufacture of polyurethane foam.

摘要： Various methods and systems disclosed compand audio signals using signal prediction, followed by expansion and reconstruction. The methods and systems compress and expand an error signal that represents deviations between samples of the original signal and predicted samples. Each predicted sample is generated by an extrapolation based on a sub-sequence of prior samples of the original signal. A time series of correction samples based on the error signal as it is received from the analog channel after amplitude expansion. Output samples are then generated from the sums of the correction samples and respective predicted samples of a second time series, each of which is extrapolated based on a sub-sequence of prior correction samples. Numerous variations are also disclosed.

摘要： Polymers and copolymers synthesized by means that yield a narrow range of molecular weights can have different properties than polymers synthesized by conventional means. In order to obtain such polymers, however, polymerization must be controlled. One type of controlled polymerization is the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) process, which has characteristics of a living polymerization. The present invention discloses a group of dithioesters and trithioesters suitable as chain transfer agents for RAFT polymerization. The present invention also discloses RAFT polymerizations conducted in aqueous media.
