A list of the common media content of the first terminal and to the second terminal is displayed via the first terminal and the second terminal. The first terminal and the second terminal may be synchronized for the first user and for the second user to experience the multimedia file via the shared viewing session. A communication associated with the multimedia file may be transmitted between the first terminal and the second terminal via a shared communication channel over the network before, during and/or after a playback of the multimedia file.

The mobile devices connect to and/or communicate with each other at the rendezvous point without disrupting consumption of the digital media. The rendezvous points may have subgroups which are based on attributes of the users, the mobile devices and/or the digital media. The users of the mobile devices create a private rendezvous point and/or a private RID which is accessible via an invitation and/or is based on the attributes of the users, the mobile devices and/or the digital media.
