    • A steering column for a motor vehicle includes upper steering-column portion, a lower steering-column portion, and a damping body for coupling the upper and lower steering-column portions, with piezoelectric elements being integrated in the damping body. These piezoelectric elements are part of an active system for vibration damping and are provided for compensating vibrations in length direction of the steering column and torsional vibrations in rotational direction of the steering wheel. The active system further includes piezoelectric elements in an attachment zone between the A-pillars and the support beam for compensating vibrations in length direction of the support beam and perpendicular thereto. Thus, the active system for vibration damping thus provides a vibration control in all three directions in space as well as control of torsional vibration.

    • A safety arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an airbag disposed in an area of a roof frame of a vehicle body which includes an “A” pillar, a “B” pillar, and a “C/D” pillar. A connecting tube is coupled to the airbag and extends in the area of the roof frame from the “A” pillar to the “C/D” pillar to conduct pressure gas from a pressure gas source to the airbag. The connecting tube is so configured as to provide stiffening for increasing a lateral rigidity of the roof frame and is firmly secured at least to the “A” pillar and the “C/D” pillar.

    • A fluid inlet suitable for introducing a hot exhaust gas into the air intake tract of an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas is conducted through an inlet pipe (15) and a deflector (18) into the intake pipe or tract (13). A preferably tubular insert (23) is disposed in the intake tract (13). The insert has walls (22) which are oriented in the direction of flow of the aspirated exhaust gas. The fluid inlet reduces the thermal stress on the walls of the intake tract (13) to a minimum and makes high exhaust recovery or recirculation rates possible. In order to additionally support cooling of the insert, the insert may be provided with apertures (26) through which a secondary air current of the intake air which flows through an intermediate chamber (25) can shift to the interior of the tube in order to achieve film cooling of the insert (23).

    • Apparatus for damping vibration in a motor vehicle includes a vibration damper module having a hollow-cylindrical housing, which has opposite ends closed by force-transmitting end closures, and a control unit for detecting interfering vibration and generating a control signal in response to the detection of the interfering vibration.
