    • A method for forming a metal pattern on a substrate via printing and electroless plating is disclosed, which includes printing a pattern on the substrate with an ink composition, drying the printed pattern, and contacting the dried pattern with an electroless plating solution. The ink composition either contains components (i), (ii) and (iii), components (i) and (iv), or components (i) and (v), which are dissolved or dispersed in a solvent, wherein (i) is a binder; (ii) is a sulfate terminated polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; (iii) is a catalytic metal precursor; (iv) is a polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer deposited with particles of catalytic metal; and (v) is a copolymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a hydrophilic monomer deposited with particles of catalytic metal. The binder (i) is a water swellable resin. The catalytic metal may be Au, Ag, Pd, Pt or Ru.

    • A signal to noise power ratio estimation system for multi-carrier communication includes a phase rotator, a power estimator, a channel gain calculator, an average and selection device, a combination and calculation device and a decibel (dB) transformation device. The signal to noise power ratio estimation system makes use of a transmit parameter signaling or pilot subcarriers to blindly assist in the signal to noise power ratio estimation to accordingly gain an estimated signal to noise power ratio accurately, and thus a communication system can be calibrated to a preferred condition.

    • A blind scan system in a DVB-S system includes a spectrum parameter extractor to fetch and calculate a coarse carrier frequency offset and coarse symbol rate of a signal; a digital mixer to depend on the coarse frequency offset to shift the center of a spectrum of the signal to a position where a DC part of a working spectrum of a digital matched filter locates, so as to produce an offset signal; and an interpolator to perform a down-sampling on the offset signal according to the coarse symbol rate in order to improve the in-band signal-to-noise ratio of the digital matched filter and mitigate impacts due to adjacent channel interferences. Thus, the fine carrier frequency offset and fine symbol rate estimation can be performed accurately.
