    • The present invention provides a method, respective apparatuses, system and computer program product for obtaining channel state information in a coordinated multi-point transmission/reception communication network. The method includes allocating a first sounding resource to at least one of a plurality of user equipment in a coordinated multi-point transmission/reception communication network for transmitting sounding reference signal to a base station of a serving cell, and allocating a second sounding resource to the at least one user equipment for transmitting sounding reference signal to a base station of an interfering cell, wherein the first and the second sounding resource are different from each other.

    • Radio conditions of a user equipment in a sector of a mobile communications network are detected and the user equipment is allocated to a group of several groups of user equipments based on the radio conditions of the user equipment. The several groups include a first group of user equipments applying user equipment-specific horizontal beamforming and sector-specific vertical beamforming, a second group of user equipments applying user equipment-specific vertical beamforming and sector-specific horizontal beamforming, and a third group of user equipments applying user equipment-specific vertical beamforming and user equipment-specific horizontal beamforming. When the user equipment acquires a signaling message including a measurement set of reference signal ports for obtaining channel state information from the user equipment, it identifies an allocation scheme of the reference signal ports in the measurement set and generates the channel state information based on the measurement set using the allocation scheme.

    • A method and apparatus for re-interpreting channel state information are provided, which relate generally to wireless communications, and more specifically are directed toward the use of channel state information/channel quality indications in a wireless network. The apparatus includes at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code. The at least one memory and the computer program code are configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: receive from a user equipment correspondence information that relates channel states of a first set to channel states of a second set (302); receive from the user equipment an indication of at least one channel state of the first set which was measured on a downlink (304); use the received indication of at least one channel state of the first set and the received correspondence information to determine a channel state from the second set (306); and adapt a transmission on a downlink channel for the user equipment using the determined channel state (308).
