摘要： The present invention generally relates to a pad transfer printing method for making colored hydrogel contact lenses with good image quality. More specifically, the present invention relates to make and use a pad transfer printing pad comprises an addition-cure room temperature vulcanized silicon, which has subjected to post-heat treating. The post-heat treated pad transfer printing pad is characterized by having a reduced silicone residue release by at least 50 percent relative to a control transfer pad having identical composition without post heat treating.

摘要： The invention is related to a hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens having a layered structural configuration: a lower water content silicone hydrogel core (or bulk material) completely covered with a layer of a higher water content hydrogel totally or substantially free of silicone. A hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens of the invention possesses high oxygen permeability for maintaining the corneal health and a soft, water-rich, lubricious surface for wearing comfort.

The colorant is applied to the contact lens as an amorphous pattern and covers an effective amount of the iris section of the same. The amorphous pattern provides a lens capable of changing the apparent color of the iris of a person wearing the lens while imparting a very natural appearance.

The method of the invention comprises the steps of: obtaining a water based ink having a viscosity of greater than about 100 centipoise (cps) and the ink has a dynamic surface tension of less than about 40 dyne/cm at surface age of about 1 second; applying the ink to a portion of molding surfaces of a lens mold to form a colored coat; actinically curing the ink printed on the mold to form a colored film; dispensing a lens-forming material into the lens-forming cavity of the mold; and actinically or thermally curing the lens-forming material to form the contact lens, whereby the colored film detaches from the molding surface and becomes integral with the body of the contact lens.

摘要： The present invention provides novels inks and methods for making a colored polymeric substrates, preferably a contact lens. In the inventive method at least a portion of a surface of a lens is coated with a color coat comprising at least one colorant, and a binder polymer obtained by copolymerizing a first monomer being ethylenically unsaturated and having a latent crosslinkable pendent group; and a second monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond copolymerizable with the first monomer. The lens is then subjected to conditions that cause the color coat to adhere to the lens.
