    • A combined illumination and ventilation duct is disclosed. The present invention includes at least two optical pipes having air flown inside wherein light proceeds within the at least two optical pipes by being totally reflected and a connector connecting the at least two optical pipes together, the connector having a connecting nipple to be connected to a pipe. An upper part of the duct is embedded in a fake ceiling under a real ceiling and a lower part is exposed under the fake ceiling. Alternatively, the whole combined illumination and ventilation duct is installed to be exposed under the fake ceiling. As air and light pass through the combined illumination and ventilation duct, the light is totally reflected within the optical pipes to illuminate an indoor space and the air is supplied or discharged to ventilate the indoor space.

    • A surface discharge type air cleaning device including an insulating dielectric body formed in the shape of a sheet, a discharge electrode formed at the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body, and a ground electrode formed at the lower surface of the insulating dielectric body. The discharge electrode is formed of a closed pattern having a predetermined area on the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body. The discharge electrode has a non-pattern part disposed in a pattern part where the pattern is formed. The electrode is not formed at the non-pattern part. The ground electrode is formed at a predetermined position corresponding to the non-pattern part. The area of the non-pattern part is reduced to decrease generation of ozone, and the area of the pattern part is enlarged to increase generation of negative ions and hydroxyl radicals. Consequently, the number of negative ions and hydroxyl radicals is increased while the amount of ozone is decreased, and therefore, air cleaning efficiency is improved.

    • Disclosed is an apparatus and method for controlling an air cleaning. The apparatus includes an air cleaning element, an AC high-voltage generator and a control unit. The air cleaning element generates negative ions and ozone using plasma discharge, and cleans indoor air using the negative ions and ozone. The AC high-voltage generator generates an AC high-voltage, and applies the AC high-voltage to the air cleaning element. The control unit varies at least one of the AC voltage and AC frequency applied to the air cleaning element by the AC high-voltage generator depending on a state of indoor air being cleaned using the air cleaning element. Therefore, it is possible to effectively generate negative ions while minimizing ozone generation to an acceptable level depending on a state of indoor air, thereby increasing air cleaning performance so as to sterilize and clean contaminants more efficiently.
