    • A method minimizes use of radio spectrum in communication delivery, where a multicast data packet is sent to at least one multicast group member via a radio access router controlling radio resources. The router determines a first cost of delivery of the multicast data packet as a multicast delivery to each active multicast group member and determines and compares the costs of a cell broadcast delivery and a delivery using dedicated channels. Based on the comparison, multicast packet delivery uses the cheapest applicable of the following delivery methods i) multicast data packet transmission to each active member of the multicast group using dedicated channel(s), ii) multicast data packet transmission to each active member of the multicast group using cell broadcast channel, or iii) multicast data packet transmission to some of the multicast group members using cell broadcast channel and to some of the group members using dedicated channels.

    • The invention relates to a management of sessions between parties being connectable with a network. Thereby a first party registers to the network and invites a second party to a session. It is determined from a session information whether said session is to be retained by the network. The retaining comprises storing at least part of the session information for a subsequent re-establishment or release of the session by the network on behalf of said first party, releasing said retained session by the network towards the second party on behalf of the first party, when the first party deregisters from the network or loses connection to the network, re-establishing the retained session by the network towards the second party on behalf of the first party, when the first party repeatedly registers to said network or re-establishes connection with said network. Furthermore, the invention relates to methods and a network element for managing multiple simultaneous sessions between parties participating in one or a plurality of calls and to a corresponding terminal.

    • A method and apparatus for efficient switching of multiplexed streams by mapping multiplexed frames with channel identifiers in multiplexed streams to corresponding output streams and channel identifiers. A system in accordance with the principles of the present invention includes a plurality of input ports for receiving packets for switching, a plurality of output ports, each of the plurality of output ports having an output queue and a switching fabric, disposed between the plurality of input and output ports. The switching fabric identifies an input multiplexed stream to which a received packet belongs, notes the channel identifier of each frame in the received packet, identifies an output multiplexed stream and channel identifier corresponding to the input multiplexed stream and channel identifier for each frame in the received packet and inserting each frame for transmission to the output queue associated with the identified corresponding multiplexed stream and channel identifier.

    • The present invention concerns a method and a system for minimizing message processing latency in a communication network. A message from a first node is received at a second node which message requires an acknowledgement message, preferably of Boolean type. Functionalities required for processing the message are partitioned into at least a first part and a second part. The first part comprises a minimum set of functionalities required to generate the acknowledgement message. The functionalities of the first part are executed. The acknowledgement message is generated and transmitted to the first node after to finishing the functionalities of the first part. The present invention makes it possible to effectively minimize the perceived message processing latency. It is also possible to dynamically optimize the latency according to available resources.
