摘要： Instruments and methods for creating an operative corridor to the spine and performing a spinal fusion. The instruments including, for example, a retractor assembly with a plurality of retractor blades, at least two pedicle screws, and a connecting rod. The retractor blades are coupled to the pedicle screws such that the operative corridor is registered to known anatomical landmarks aiding the surgeon with intraoperative orientation and anatomy identification. The retractor blades may be coupled to the pedicle screws via a polyaxial connection such that the angle of the operative corridor may be adjusted while maintaining the registration to the landmarks. Rod receivers may be attached to the pedicle screws after the disc space is operated on to minimize encumbrances on the working space within the operative corridor. A connecting rod is subsequently locked to the receivers to fix the spinal segment.

摘要： Devices and methods for removing body tissue involving the use of a brush member having a plurality of bristle members defining a capacity for carrying body tissue. The brush member is capable of being manipulated within said body to thereby receive body tissue within said brush member such that said body tissue may be carried and thereafter removed from said body. Also provided are protective devices dimensioned to be positioned near an entrance into the target site, the protective devices for establishing a barrier between the brush member and at least a portion of the body tissue adjacent to the entrance. The protective devices may comprise one of a cannula assembly and a retractor assembly.

摘要： This disclosure describes a guide assembly for guiding the installation of a spinal fusion implant to a surgical target site. The guide assembly includes a pair of arm members and a handle assembly that functions to clamp the arm members in locked and unlocked positions. The guide assembly interacts with an inserter to guide a spinal implant to the target site. Once the implant is inserted within the disc space, the guide assembly can be partially disassembled to facilitate removal from the surgical target site.
