    • PURPOSE:To reduce a content of Pd greatly and to obtain a catalyst remarkably distinguished in CO oxidation activity, by producing activated MnO2 from Mn salt in the presence of Pd or Pd compd. in the method of preparing the catalyst consisting of a mixture of Pd or Pd compd. and activated MnO2. CONSTITUTION:For example, 10g manganese nitrate is dissolved in 100ml water, 2ml water dissolving 40mg palladium chloride is added to said soln., and further, 5ml concd. nitric acid is added. A 100ml 5% aq. soln. of KMnO4 is gradually dropped while said soln. is being well stirred, and stirring is continued after the end of dropping. The produced ppt. is sufficiently washed with distilled water, and when the purple color of MnO 4 ions almost disappears, the ppt. is filtered by suction, the obtd. solid matter is air dried, and further dried at 100 deg.C for 24hr, resulting in obtaining about 0.6g blackish brown powder catalyst.
