    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of improving diffusion or scattering performance of illumination light at a low cost, and a driving method of the lighting system.SOLUTION: The lighting system is provided with a light source, an optical element which diffuses or scatters light emitted from the light source, and a reflector which reflects the light passing the optical element toward the direction of the optical element. The light emitted from the light source is made to pass the optical elements several times and then is emitted as illumination light. Thereby, with a simple structure comprising the light source, the optical element, and the reflector, the performance of diffusion or scattering of illumination light emitted from the lighting system can be improved at a low cost.
