    • Methods and arrangements in a base station and a User Equipment are provided. The methods and arrangements relates to the scenario when the UE is handed over from a source base station to a target base station in a handover scenario, and wherein the target base station may not support functionalities which the source base station and the UE support. The method in the UE comprises receiving (501) a configuration message from the target base station via the source base station, configuring (502) the UE based on the received configuration message from the target base station by searching (503) for a second field in an information element of the received configuration message. The presence/non-presence or a value of the second field is indicative of how to manage a configured first functionality associated with an optional first field, wherein the configured first functionality may not be supported by the target base station.

    • Embodiments disclose a method in a communication device in a telecommunications network. The first communication device receives an emergency notification from a broadcasting unit indicating a cell associated to the first communication device wherein the emergency is to be notified to a user equipment. The first communication device determines a paging channel to be used to page and broadcast within the cell a notification indicating an emergency and orders the notification indicating an emergency to be transmitted on the paging channel. The first communication device determines a common control channel to be used to broadcast an emergency confirm message within the cell, and orders the emergency confirm message to be transmitted on the common control channel.

    • Embodiments disclose a method in a communication device in a telecommunications network. The first communication device receives an emergency notification from a broadcasting unit indicating a cell associated to the first communication device wherein the emergency is to be notified to a user equipment.     • UTRAN MAC-d multiplexing of data from multiple logical channels to a single MAC-d flow is supported while reducing overhead and achieving octet alignment in MAC-d PDU length. In one embodiment, the C/T field of a multiplexed MAC-d PDU is eliminated, and the logical channels multiplexed into the MAC-d flow are mapped to a MAC-hs PQ in at least the NodeB (and preferably in the UE as well). In other embodiments, the C/T field is retained, and an octet-aligned length indicator is transmitted from the RNC to the UE. In one embodiment, the length indicator is octet-aligned by padding the MAC-d PDUs. In another embodiment, transmitters and receivers in the path from RNC to UE are configured with an offset to add to the length indicator to achieve octet alignment. The padding or offset is (8-n) bits, where n=the number of bits in C/T field.

    • Methods and arrangements for adjusting timing of transmissions in a radio communication system in which aggregation of component carriers is employed are disclosed. A base station sends a first TA command applicable to a first component carrier to a user equipment. A need to maintain different uplink transmission timing for the first user equipment component carrier and second uplink component carrier is detected by the base station. The base station then sends a second TA command based on the detected need to maintain different uplink transmission timing. The second TA command is applicable to uplink transmissions on the first component carrier and/or the second component carrier. The user equipment adjusts uplink transmissions on the first component carrier and/or the second uplink component carrier based on the second timing advance command.
