    • Disclosed is an apparatus for scanning a surface with electromagnetic radiation. The apparatus comprises a base plate for supporting a medium said medium having a scanning surface to be scanned, an optical head unit adapted to scan the scanning surface with electromagnetic radiation propagating along an optical axis, a fluid film generation unit connected to the optical head unit and adapted to generate a fluid film between the scanning surface and a gliding surface of the fluid film generation unit for maintaining a predetermined distance between the gliding surface and the scanning surface during scanning operation of the optical head unit across the scanning surface, and control means for controlling the position of the fluid film relative to the optical axis.

    • A pneumatic sonobuoy launcher adapted for simultaneously storing, and sequentially and independently launching, at least two sonobuoys includes a barrel with a closed back end, an expulsion end opposite the back end and an interior sonobuoy-guiding channel extending between the opposed ends. The channel is adapted for storing a series of sonobuoys including rearwardmost and forwardmost sonobuoys stored, respectively, closest to the back end of the barrel and closest to the expulsion end of the barrel. Each stored sonobuoy occupies a distinct region of the channel separated by an interval from at least one other region. An expulsion-gas delivery system includes at least one valve that is selectively connectable into fluid communication with an expulsion-gas supply and is pneumatically switchable from at least (i) a first gas-channeling state in which expulsion gas introduced through the valve is directed to a first interval between sonobuoys to (ii) a second gas-channeling state in which expulsion gas introduced into the valve is directed to at least one of (a) a second interval located to the rear of the first interval and (b) a location within the channel behind the rearwardmost sonobuoy. A feedback conduit communicates pneumatic back pressure created upon the expulsion of a sonobuoy to the switchable valve in order to switch the valve from the first gas-channeling state to the second gas-channeling state for the launch of a subsequent sonobuoy.

    • Disclosed are radiolabeled amine compounds, methods for preparing these compounds, diagnostic compositions containing the radiolabeled amine compounds and methods for using these compositions in conducting radiodiagnostic examinations for determining the location and extent of an occurring blood clot in the body of a warm-blooded animal such as a human.The radiolabeled amine compounds of the present invention have the general formula:Y--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --X--(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --NH.sub.2wherein X is selected from the group consisting of oxygen; sulfur; lower alkylene, radioactive selenium; and radioactive tellurium, Y is a hydrocarbyl amino group, and when X is oxygen, sulfur or lower alkylene, Y is a radioactive iodine-substituted hydrocarbyl amino group. Also disclosed are pharmaceutically-acceptable, acid addition salts of the above radiolabeled amine compounds.
