    • A door phone controller has a door ajar feature for alerting a user that a door was left open. The door phone controller accommodates the door ajar feature in several different ways depending upon how it is configured to interface with the central office line. If the door phone controller is configured to interface with the central office line as an individual station, then when a door is left open, the controller alerts the user via auxiliary alert contacts specifically provided for activating a customer chime. When the door phone controller is configured as a ring-down station, the door phone controller alerts the user that the door was left ajar by dialing a pre-programmed telephone number and sending a door ajar tone. If the door phone controller is configured as an interface with a trunk port, then when the door is left open, the controller alerts the user by ringing the trunk line and also energizing the auxiliary alert contacts. The user can both enable and disable the door ajar features via the telephone interface.

    • A circuit for interfacing a host telephone system having a trunk line pair with a central office line pair and an additional circuit line pair includes a loop current monitor circuit for monitoring the host telephone system trunk line pair which is normally connected to the central office line pair. The loop current monitor provides a status signal output indicating the presence or absence of loop current. A relay controller receives the status signal and provides a relay control signal and a hold signal. A relay selectively connects the host telephone system trunk line pair to the additional circuit line pair in response to the relay control signal when loop current is detected after the host telephone goes off-hook. A hold termination circuit receives the hold signal and traps any loop current signals which may be detectable over the central office line pair. The relay controller circuit is active to generate the relay control signal only for an initial time period after the host telephone system goes off-hook.

The gemstone is mounted on a piece of jewelry or can remain unmounted when received by the viewer. A source of light directs a light beam toward a magnifying lens coated with a reflection enhancing coating. The lens reflects the light beam along a path incident to the surface of the gemstone containing the inscription. The smooth gemstone surface specularly reflects the light beam along a path back toward the magnifying lens, which produces a viewable light image that reveals the inscription. The inscription is shown as a combination of darkened or lightened areas, lines and characters given the reduction or absence of light reflected, or highlighted by the reflection of light.

    • An audio amplifier for providing a power boost for telephone-sourced audio signals that drive one or more paging speakers employs a class D amplifier and a state variable feedback network, which monitors voltage and current levels of an audio output filter to which the paging speakers are coupled, so as to adjust the operation of the amplifier circuit, as necessary, to compensate variations in the speaker loading of the audio output filter. The class D amplifier includes a pulse width modulator, which controls the switching of a power H-bridge-configured switching circuit. The switching circuit sources and sinks current with respect to the paging speaker load. The output of the power bridge switching circuit is a high energy square wave-type signal, which is filtered in a downstream audio filter to remove the switching transients and preserve the desired voice paging signal for application to the paging speakers. The state variable feedback network monitors variations in current flow and voltage at a plurality of circuit locations of the audio filter circuit and sums the monitored variations to produce an error signal, which is fed back to the input of the voice paging amplifier circuit and combined with the audio input signal.

    • An online method and system for evaluating a gemstone is provided that enables a consumer to use a personal computer to evaluate the visual appearance and measurement data of the gemstone by emulating the laboratory instruments that previously collected the data for the gemstone. The computer is connected to the internet and a website that is linked to a gemstone database, emulation software and graphical user interface. The consumer identifies the specific gemstone he or she wants to evaluate, and an interactive gemstone certificate screen is displayed. The consumer separately selects and then emulates a variety of lab instruments, such as color and clarity grading, geometric measuring, and light performance and light ray tracing instruments. Graphical images and data pertaining to the selected gemstone are displayed on the computer monitor, and selected portions of the database are downloaded and saved on the computer memory.

    • A viewer for gemstones allowing a person to view the light performance of a gemstone having a 360-degree light unit positioned above a base where the stone is placed. The light unit is attached to an adjustable mounting bracket which allows the bracket and light unit to move vertically through use of a control mechanism. The base allows for secure and consistent placement of the gemstone, and positioning of a light control structure, preferably made from a reflective material, over the stone. The position of the stone is under the center of the light unit and light control structure. The light control structure has an aperture to allow the light from the light unit to enter.
