摘要： A redundant host pair runtime arrangement is disclosed for a process control network environment. The environment includes a primary network through which process control information is transmitted. An active partner of a fail-over host pair operates on a first machine communicatively connected to the primary network, and the active partner hosts a set of executing application components. A standby partner of the fail-over host pair operates on a second machine communicatively connected to the primary network. The standby partner receives updates including engine synchronization data associated with the set of executing application components to facilitate taking over an active partner role in response to a fail-over event. The environment also includes a redundancy message channel, separate and distinct from the primary network. The redundancy message channel provides a communications path between the first machine and second machine facilitating passing the updates including engine synchronization data.

摘要： An electrochemical machining method and apparatus involves the passage of a wire through a programmably controllable electrochemical machine, wherein the wire is tapered along its length to obtain a desired profile. The rate of material removal may be determined, for example, by modulating the power supplied to the electrochemical machine, or by varying the wire speed therethrough. The machine can include an electrical contact cell and a nutation cell. Electrical power is coupled to the wire via the contact cell. Relative orbital motion of the wire and the nutating cell ensures that material removal from the wire is uniform in all directions.

The system includes a name resolution table for mapping location-independent reference names to network location-specific addresses. A location-independent name is assigned to the redundancy-enabled host comprising an active host partner and a standby host partner. A messaging infrastructure serves clients of the redundancy-enabled host. The messaging infrastructure maintains a name to address translation for each reference of the client to subscribed data on the redundancy-enabled host such that a same name is used to reference data on the redundancy-enabled host without regard to which one of the redundancy-enabled host partners is presently active.
