    • A dual-polarized, stub-tuned, proximity-fed, stacked patch antenna includes a ground plane layer and a dielectric substrate overlying the ground plane layer. An active patch antenna element is disposed on the dielectric substrate. A parasitic patch antenna element is supported in spaced relation to the active patch antenna element. Dual feed lines are spaced from and field-coupled to the active patch antenna element. Each feed line has a tuning stub for producing a distributed antenna resonance. The dual feed lines are configured to provide dual polarization and minimize coupling between the feed lines. The feed lines are positioned substantially orthogonal to each other to provide orthogonal linear polarizations. Each feed line includes a feed line tip that extends towards the center of the active patch antenna element and spaced from each other to minimize tip-to-tip coupling. Each feed line tip includes a 90 degree bend.

    • A reflector antenna system may include an arc-shaped antenna reflector defining a first antenna beam, and a phased array antenna positioned in the first antenna beam including first and second arrays of antenna elements coupled together in back-to-back relation. The first array may face the antenna reflector, and the second array may face away from it. A controller switchable between a reflecting mode and a direct mode may be connected to the arrays. The controller, when in the reflecting mode, may cause back-to-back pairs of first antenna elements from the arrays to define a feed-through zone for the first antenna beam, and cause second antenna elements in the first array to define a first active zone for the first antenna beam. Furthermore, when in the direct mode, the controller may cause antenna elements in the second array to define a second active zone for a second antenna beam.

    • The invention concerns an array of radiating elements. A first plurality of antenna elements in a first plane in an array configuration is configured for operating on a first band of frequencies. A second plurality of planar antenna elements in an array configuration is configured for operating on a second frequency band, the second plurality of antenna elements is also positioned in the first plane. A first effective ground plane is provided for the first plurality of antenna elements and a second effective ground plane is provided for the second plurality of antenna elements. A first spacing between the first plurality of elements and the first effective ground plane is different from a second spacing between the second plurality of elements and the second effective ground plane. According to one embodiment, the second plurality of elements are adjacent to one another in a unitary cluster that is disposed within the first plurality of elements.
