    • An adjustable shelf device is used with a conventional filing cabinet, shelving or the like to readily form the cabinet space into various sized compartments to thereby permit efficient use of the cabinet space. The shelf device includes a pair of shelf structures which have overlapping vertical and horizontal shelves that are longitudinally shiftable relative to each other to permit adjustment of the overall length of the shelf device to thereby accommodate cabinets or shelving of various sizes. Vertical dividers project into registering openings in the overlapped portions of the shelf structure to releasably lock the shelf device in an adjusted position.

    • The present invention provides a sideframe for use in a traditional three piece railway fright car truck comprising a pair of laterally spaced sideframes supporting a bolster extending between the sideframes. Each sideframe comprises an elongated top compression member, two diagonal compression members extending generally downwardly at acute angles from near the ends of the top compression member, and a bottom member joining the other ends of the diagonal tension members. Two column members also extend vertically between the bottom member and the top compression member. Pads with fastener openings are provided on the top surface of the top compression member to assist in mounting brackets to the sideframe.

    • A method of improving the compatibility of a fuel additive composition comprising blending together the following components: a) a Mannich condensation product of (1) a high molecular weight alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound, (2) an amine having the formula:  wherein A is CH or nitrogen, R1, R2, R3 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to about 6 carbon atoms and each R2 and R3 is independently selected in each —CR2R3— unit, and x is an integer from 1 to about 6;  and (3) an aldehyde, wherein the respective molar ratio of reactants (1), (2), and (3) is 1:0.1-2:0.1-2; b) a hydrocarbyl-terminated poly(oxyalkylene) monool; c) a carboxylic acid as represented by the formula: R4(COOH)y  wherein R4 represents a hydrocarbyl group having about 2 to about 50 carbon atoms, and y represents an integer of 1 to about 4; and d) an anhydride selected from the group consisting of succinic, glutaric, phthalic, and alkyl anhydrides.

    • A fuel additive composition comprising: a) a Mannich condensation product of (1) a high molecular weight alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound wherein the alkyl group has a number average molecular weight of from about 300 to about 5,000 (2) an amine which contains an amino group having at least one active hydrogen atom, and (3) an aldehyde, wherein the respective molar ratio of reactants (1), (2), and (3) is 1:0.1-10:0.1-10; b) a hydrocarbyl-terminated poly(oxyalkylene) monool having an average molecular weight of about 500 to about 5,000, wherein the oxyalkylene group is a C2 to C5 oxyalkylene group and the hydrocarbyl group is a C1 to C30 hydrocarbyl group; and c) a carboxylic acid as represented by the formula: R1(COOH)x or anhydride thereof, wherein R1 represents a hydrocarbyl group having about 2 to about 50 carbon atoms, and x represents an integer of 1 to about 4. The unique fuel additive composition provides excellent control of engine deposits, particularly engine intake system deposits, such as intake valve deposits. The improved performance may be attributable to the improved compatibility of the fuel additive composition of the present invention. The improved compatibility manifests itself in less insoluble material, haze, and flocs. Improved anti-corrosion properties are also provided by the fuel additive composition of the present invention.

    • A method for removing boron from a boron trifluoride-catalyzed polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product which comprises: (a) diluting the polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product with an inert solvent to give a polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product concentration in the range of about 40 to about 80 weight percent; (b) filtering the diluted polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product in the presence of a filter aid in combination with (1) magnesium silicate, (2) water or (3) a mixture of magnesium silicate and water; wherein the water is present during filtration at a concentration of about 100 to 1,500 ppm, based on the diluted polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product; with the proviso that when water is used in the absence of magnesium silicate, the filter aid is diatomaceous earth; and (c) recovering a filtrate containing the diluted polyalkyl hydroxyaromatic reaction product having less than about 10 ppm of boron present.
