    • The invention relates to a method of initiating a wireless transfer of data between two electronic devices. In order to make the initiation particularly user friendly, it is proposed that a concept called “hugging” is employed. A hugging state between two electronic devices is assumed to be given if a first electronic device and a second electronic device are determined to undergo a specific motion pattern relative to each other while being at least in close vicinity to each other. Only in case such a hugging state is detected at a first device, a data transfer channel is opened for transferring data between the first device and some other device, e.g. the second device. The invention relates equally to a corresponding device and to a software program product with a corresponding software code.

    • A mobile radio-frequency enabled device that provides a reliable and inexpensive lightning alerting of a user. The device comprises an electromagnetic interferences detection component detecting electromagnetic interferences in radio-frequency signals received by the mobile radio-frequency enabled device for a communication link. The device further comprises a processing component to determine whether a lightning stroke can be assumed to have occurred in the vicinity of the device due to an electromagnetic interference detected by the electromagnetic interferences detection component, and to cause a notification of a user about an assumed lightning stroke via a user interface. The invention relates equally to a system which comprises such a device and a network element of a communication network, to a corresponding method and to a corresponding software program product.

    • A portable diagnostic apparatus is brought proximal to a device to be diagnosed. While the device to be diagnosed is operating, a radiofrequency interference signal emitted by the device is received at the portable apparatus and a data representation of it is stored. The data representation is submitted for matching to a diagnostic signal pattern stored in a database of predetermined signal patterns. From the matching is identified and output an indication of a fault in the device to be diagnosed. In one embodiment the submitting is to the database stored in the portable apparatus itself, and in another embodiment the submitting is outputting (data cable, wireless link) the stored data representation to a diagnostic computer such as a personal computer, a peer device, or a remote diagnostic center. The RF interference signal may be one stream and the portable apparatus receives at least a second stream and both streams are used for the matching.
