    • PURPOSE:To achieve a high-sensitivity detection without reducing the voltage sensitivity of a pyroelectric element even if the image pick-up part of a body to be detected is large by performing surface division of a light-reception-surface electrode which is deposited on the light reception surface of a pyroelectric substrate into a plurality of parts. CONSTITUTION:A light-reception-surface electrode film is divided into light- reception-surface electrode films 14a and 14b, mounting electrodes 15a and 15b for connecting lead wires are formed on each film, and voltage sensitivity is improved by outputting a voltage independently. Also, since an opposed surface electrode film 18 is grounded as a voltage reference, it needs to be divided and is formed into one piece. A heat absorption film formed on the electrode films 14a and 14b is in the same as the electrode films 14a and 14b and is divided into heat absorption films 16a and 16b. In this manner, each area of the electrode films 14a and 14b becomes the half of the area of the entire light- reception-surface electrode film, thus doubling the voltage sensitivity as compared with a case where the light-reception-surface electrode is single.
