摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle article carrier with means built therein for locking or unlocking bracket members arranged at both ends of a vehicle roof in the cross direction to or from slates at the same time. SOLUTION: The vehicle article carrier comprises a cross bar 20 having a pair of end supporting portions 22 at the ends, the end supporting portions 22 being locked or unlocked at the ends of the cross bar 20 at the same time by lifting an operating member 26 of one of the end supporting portions 22. The main advantage of the construction of the end supporting portions 22 is that no large gap between the end supporting portion 22 and a body outer face 14 is required because the operating member 26 is forced between a locking position and an unlocking position without protruding a considerable length from the end supporting portion 22. The cross bar can be placed closer to the body outer face while the operating members 26 of the end supporting portions 22 are still allowed to be mutually joined between the locking position and the unlocking position.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular article carrier containing a cross bar which has an end part-supporting body at respective end parts, and a fixing mechanism of which respective end part-supporting bodies are urged by a spring. SOLUTION: Respective end part-supporting bodies contain a working member, and the working member is turnably attached to a housing of the end part-supporting body with which the working member is combined. An inverted V-shaped urging member is arranged in the housing, and the outermost end part is trapped with a first recess of the housing and a second recess which is formed on the internal wall of the working member. An over-center action is adopted in order to assist the urging of the working member into a fixation- releasing position and a fixing position. The working member contains a fixing post part for engaging with one of a plurality of openings which are formed along the total length of a side rail with which the working member is combined. 摘要： An article carrier (i.e roof rack or roof bars) for a vehicle includes a pair of support rails and a cross bar. The cross bar has a locking mechanism at opposite ends. Each locking mechanism includes a housing (22a), an actuating member (26) being pivotally mounted in the housing (22a) and having a manually engageable portion and a camming surface, and a locking pin (42) including a cam follower for engaging with the camming surface and being biassed into a locking position with the support rails. An elongated member (72) extends within the cross bar to operably connect the locking mechanisms such movement of one of the actuating members causes simultaneous movement of both of the locking pins (42).

摘要： A vehicle article carrier having a cross bar which makes use of a pair of end supports for securing the cross bar to a pair of side rails. Each of the end supports includes an actuating member which is pivotally mounted to a housin g of its associated end support. An inverted V-shaped biasing member is dispos ed within the housing and its outermost ends are captured within a first recess in the housing and a second recess formed in an internal wail of the actuating member. An over center action is employed to assist in biasing the actuating member into its unlocked and locked positions. The actuating member includes a locking post portion for engaging with one of a plurality of apertures formed along the length of its associated side rail. The end support can be constructed with a reduc ed number of independent component parts, thereby simplifying its construction and reducing its overall cost.
