    • PURPOSE:To reduce construction cost and to make efficient operation possible, by a construction wherein a sloped chip is detachably provided at the lower part of a bucket, and there is provided a chute which can be revolved upon a center line and elevated upwards can downward. CONSTITUTION:During the charging of a raw material, a swivel base 10 is slowly swiveled on a truck 8 through a pinion 15 by means of a slewing motor 14 provided on the truck 8. Coke 3 is fallen through a chip 7 into a cooling tower, forms a circular mountain 4' of coke, whose top is dented, and accumulates without unevenness in particle size. During a waiting period, a gear 13 is driven by an elevating motor 16 on the swivel base 10 to lift a chute 6 through a rack 12' to the position of a two-dot chain line where the lower part of the chip is higher than the height S of the top of the cooling tower. Then a rail 18 is traveled to cover a furnace port with a furnace lid which is on standby at a predetermined position. The particle size distribution of the raw material within the cooling tower is uniformed, whereby deflection is prevented, a cooling effect within the tower is enhanced and operation at a high degree of efficiency is made possible. At the same time, the height of the equipment is lowered to reduce construction cost by providing the chute under the backet in such a manner that it can be elevated.

    • PURPOSE:To perform refining of a metal and the vacuum evacuation in a ladle with one stage by closing airtightly a ladle with a furnace cover into which an electrode bar is inserted, passing DC current between the bottom electrode provided to the bottom of the ladle and the electrode bar and heating the molten metal by the DC arc. CONSTITUTION:A ladle 1 in which a molten metal 5 is received is carried to a prescribed position and is installed there. A furnace cover 3 through which an electrode bar 17 is inserted airtightly is suspended to a ring seat 12 and the bottom electrode 15 provided to the ladle 1 is connected to a DC power source 16. A gas blow port 4 is connected to a stirring gas source. Electricity is then conducted to the bar 17 and the electrode 15 to generate an arc 24 and the inside of the ladle is evacuated. An inert gas is fed as a stirring gas through the port 4 into the ladle. Then the molten steel 5 is heated by the arc 24 and is stirred by the stirring gas, by which the molten steel is refined. Since a space 22 is maintained under a negative pressure, harmful gas is removed. An additive is charged if necessary to the molten steel from a flux charger 19.

    • PURPOSE:To remove continuously the volatile impurity elements or gas in molten metal with simple constitution and low cost by dropping molten metal from a gate which dams up the molten metal flowing in a flow passage in the reduced pressure state under heating thereby increasing the surface area thereof. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a pool 2 provided in the mid-way of a flow passage 1 for molten metal is partitioned to two parts with a gate 3 in the direction orthogonal with a flow passage 1. A vacuum vessel 4 lined with a refractory material 9 is further inserted therein across the gate 3 to partition the two partitioned pools 2 further to two parts. When the inside of the vessel 4 is evacuated to a negative pressure through a vacuum line 10 in this state, the liquid level in the inside tank 6 of the vacuum vessel on the inlet side of the pool rises and the molten metal flows beyond the gate 3 and falls into the inside tank 7 of the vacuum vessel on the outlet side of the pool. A large surface area is thus obtd. and the evaporation of impurities is accelerated. It is possible to increase the evaporation rate of impurities by blowing an inert gas, etc. through a blow-out port 12 provided in the tank bottom or heating the inside of the pool with a heating electrode 11.

    • PURPOSE: To simply remove impurities by evaporation, by a method wherein molten metal, which is taken inchambers divided in two parts with a weir provided at the bottom part inside a vacuum vessel of lateral cylindrical shape, is repeatedly moved over the weir.
      CONSTITUTION: A weir likely to divided the inside of vessel 1 into 2 parts along longitudinal direction, is protruded at the bottom part inside the vacuum vessel 1 of lateral cylindrical shape. The molten metal 17 taken in respective rooms dividedly formed is made to be able to move into the neiboring chamber over the weir thereby. Molten metal 17 is repeatedly moved from oneside to another chamber over the weir 8 under vacuum by shaking this vessel 1 with driving device. Thus, impurities in molten metal are simply removed into vacuum by evaporation.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effeciency by uniformly accumlating coke by making coke fall within a cooking tower so as to trace circular arcs, by introducing red hot coke through a swirl hopper into the main body of the cooling tower when the coke is introduced from a hopper above the tower into said main body. CONSTITUTION:A distribution chute 9 is swirlably provided at the lower part of an upper tower 2 provided above 2 sets of the main bodies 1, 1' of cooling towers. The outlet of said distribution chute 9 is alternately connected to the inlets of two sets of intermediate chutes 21, 21'. Red hot coke is introduced from a skip cup into the hopper 2, passed through the chute 9 and the intermediate chute 21, and is made to fall from the introducing port 18 of a swirl chute 16 into the main body 1 of the cooling tower. Since the introducing port 18 is eccentrically provided at a position spaced away from the revolving center of a tower lid 14 which is swirling, the introducing port 18 is swirled while tracing circular arcs. Therefore, hot red cok is made to fall within the cooling tower 1 so as to trace circular arcs, and is uniformly accumulated.
